Five cool summer drinks

Summer is here folks. Time to save ourselves from the scorching summer. Don't worry I've got your back. I going to share the 5 best drinks to keep yourself hydrated and beat the heat throughout the summer. These drinks are not my recipe but are from our ancestors which will work like a miracle on your body. These are filled not only with gushing liquids but also with all the required minerals and vitamins. All-natural ingredients.


FIVE COOL SUMMER DRINKS

Let me divide the drinks into two parts, when outdoor and indoor.


Outdoor drinks

Well, not all drinks you can make at home, these are a few drinks which you can purchase from outside or drink when you are out.


1. Sugarcane Juice

These long bamboo-like looking canes are not only filled with sweet relishing juice but also are rich in many nutrients and minerals.

90% of the weight of the cane is juice

Nutrition value:

Contains potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, magnesium, zinc and several amino acids. Also high in dietary fibre. Benefits:

  • Instant energy supply

  • Fights cavities and bad breath

  • Strengthens your liver

  • Improves digestion

  • Increases skin radiance

Its recommended to drink fresh as soon as it's prepared.


2. Coconut water

It's nature's readymade drink. Just pluck, cut and drink. This tropical fruit is mainly used for its water, milk, oil and tasty meat.

The coconut tree is called the tree of life.

It is one of those trees whose each and every part is completely used. It's often called a tree of life. Leaves are used for shelters, the trunk and fibre from the fruit are dried and used as fuel, etc.

Contains Calcium, Iron, Vitamin B, Magnesium, Potassium, Saturated fats, Protein, etc


Benefits:

  • Packed with electrolytes

  • Improves heart health

It's recommended to drink natural coconut rather than packed and refrigerated one's.


Indoor drinks

These are a few healthy and cool drinks you should prepare at home to reap the benefits this summer. Also, you can carry them to your workplace or anywhere you wish to.


1. Buttermilk

There are 2 types of buttermilk, traditional and cultured buttermilk.

Traditional buttermilk is the leftover liquid from the butter-making process.

Cultured or commercial buttermilk is prepared from curd by diluting with water.


It's up to you which one you want to choose as both help in cooling our body. However, both have their own nutritional values. If you are a busy person my suggestion would be to go with cultured buttermilk as it is easy to prepare.

Cultured buttermilk was popular in America as a food that could slow aging.

Nutrition:

Contains calcium, potassium, vitamins and traces of phosphorus also few fats.


Benefits:

  • Keeps you hydrated

  • Treats acidity

  • Reduces blood pressure

  • Strengthens bones, teeth

  • Improves skin condition.

It is recommended to avoid drinking buttermilk after sunset as it reduces your digestive fire.


2. Lemonade

Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and fibre. They are easily available and can be saved at home in abundance. Lemonade is a simple drink.

One squeezed lemon gives around 21% of person's Daily Value.

Contains Vitamin C and fibre, powerful antioxidants, rich in flavinoids


Benefits:

  • Increases immunity

  • Controls free radicals

  • Improves digestion

  • Detoxes the system by flushing out toxins

  • Treats kidney stones

Caution: The acidic property of lemons can damage tooth enamel over time. Drink without touching to your teeth, try using a sipper or straw.


3. Barley water

It is one of the amazing summer drinks that keeps our body hydrated and cool at the same time. These grains are low in calories. It is an elixir to good health form our ancestors.

It is one of the first cultivated grains in human civilisation.

These are the member of the grass family and has been used as animal fodder and fermentable material for beer also in various health foods.


Nutrition:

Contains protein, fibre, Calcium, Iron, Copper, Zinc, Manganese, anti-oxidants, phytochemicals.


Benefits:

  • Helps in detoxification

  • Clears digestion issues

  • Helps in weight loss as it fills your stomach and kills hunger

  • Lowers blood sugar and cholesterol

You can drink it cool or hot. Both ways it tastes good. I drink it cold with little added rocksalt.


Takeaway

The above drinks are beneficial when you take them in moderation. You can choose one drink and stick to it for a while and change to another later.
